Hello there! Today’s post is inspired by our latest winter trip to Colorado and is featuring the most underestimated thing in my toiletry bag – the lip balm. As you may know, Denver is among nation’s driest cities. In addition to that, when you travel from humid and warm Austin, TX, the challenge to keep your lips moist and prevent the dryness is real.
I don’t know what about you, but I am always looking for a good lip balm. That’s why I have tried so many of them until I found those that would work for me both in Austin, in the plane, and during our trips to the driest places in the world. I would like to share with you 3 lip balms that work perfectly for me. Also, I cannot use a lip balm that has a terrible artificial smell/taste, so these 3 don’t have any of that.

Best drug-store lip balm:
Eucerin Aquaphor lip repair
I discovered this lip balm 4 years ago when I lived in San Francisco, CA, where it was so windy that it was hard to keep my lips moist. I have unsuccessfully tried over 10 different brands, and nothing seemed to help those chapped lips. The lip balm is fragrance and preservative free which means it’s not going to cause extra pain if lips are cracked.
Best for: already dry and chapped lips. I would also use it every night when I am back to the hotel before I go to bed to make sure that my lips get extra care.

Best lip balm for windy winter:
Kiehl’s LIP BALM #1
Being a fan of Kiehl’s products, I often find myself trying out something new that I absolutely fall in love with. Just like their Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, this lip balm is not an exception. I discovered this balm 2 years ago when I lived in Colorado and was looking for a product that would be good for dry winters. The best thing? Not only it protects and helps to prevent the dryness, it lasts so long!
Best for: daily use during cold windy winters. I would also use it under any lipstick to create an extra layer of protection.

Best lip balm for using all year round:
Kopari Lip Glossy
Oh, where do I begin? Since the moment I heard about this lip balm, it’s ingredients and read reviews, I was excited to try it. To be honest, I bought it during summer before we took a trip to Italy. I wanted to have a lipgloss that would prevent my lips from overdrying and protect from the sun. No matter how good the product is, I can’t stand when my lips are sticky, so there was another requirement.
This winter I brought it with me to the mountains of Colorado. Thanks to organic coconut and shea butter in it, my lips were able to make it through the wind, snow, and dry air.
Best for: everyday life, plane, trips all year round.
Bonus: it’s free of Sulfates SLS and SLES, parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, triclocarban.
Don’t forget that your lips just like your skin need extra care, especially during winter time. Make sure you drink enough water, exfoliate your lips and use good lip balm to keep them healthy and happy.

I’m very keen with how I purchase my lip balms because most of them tend to worsen and dry out my lips. I always make sure they are fragrance-free too!

I’ve heard of people loving the aquaphor but haven’t ever tried it! The only thing that saves my lips in the winter is the Laneige lip mask! I’ll have to try one of these out!

How funny, I never use Kiehls and didn’t realise they even had a store where I live (tiny Mediterranean island!). But this Christmas I discovered their little outlet in Valletta and actually bought their lip balm for my hubby!
