Hello there! Cancun, Mexico is not just a traveler’s dream destination, it’s every foodie’s paradise. Today I would like to share with you my absolute favorite places. Each of them is highly recommended by locals and approved by my Mexican husband. The high quality of ingredients used for every meal, exceptional flavors, excellent service and menus that even the pickiest foodie (like me) would love! These are just a few things that make these places worth visiting every time we are in Cancun. So, let’s begin!
“La Organica” for traditional Mexican food
There is nothing better than a place recommended by locals, right? Especially when it comes to the traditional cuisine of the place you’re visiting. This restaurant offers a wide selection of delicious Mexican dishes. Both interior and exterior bring the true spirit of Cancun. The restaurant is highly appreciated by the locals and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is also vegan and vegetarian-friendly, so a couple of pages offer meals to meet those requirements.
Start with: Café de Olla or freshly squeezed juice
Must Try: no matter what you order, it’s delicious and made to order.
Finish with: “pan de elote” – the best cornbread I have ever tried. It’s sweet and prepared with natural ingredients and real corn.
Cafe Antoinette for delicious breakfast
We happened to live in the Airbnb in front of this small bakery, so, naturally, we stopped for some bread and coffee. The pastries were delicious as was coffee. The service always fast, so we made it a habit to walk every morning for a simple, cheap and yummy breakfast! We would get some fruits from local market to make perfect fast breakfast to enjoy on the patio of our Airbnb. Cafe Antoinette also has dine in option available where delicious Mexican food combined with French bread would be served.
Marbella Fish Market & Raw Bar Grill for the best seafood of your life and incredible view!
This restaurant was truly a discovery for us. But once we found it, we couldn’t stop dining there every other night. The seafood is extremely fresh, the personnel is kind and attentive, and you can’t go wrong with the view! Highly recommended when in Cancun!
El Fish Fritanga for delicious seafood
Is there anything better than freshly seafood carefully prepared and served while you enjoy the feeling of sand under your feet and a beautiful view? This restaurant is a hidden gem of Cancun, and is perfect for a romantic date night, or dinner with family.
Start with: their famous guacamole
Must try: grilled octopus and traditional grilled fish
Finish with: traditional Mexican plantain dessert
Mercado 28 for a variety of meat, seafood and veggies
There is nothing like going to a local place made for locals. You won’t find a fancy presentation or exquisite decor. What you’ll find is a delicious meal made in best traditions of Mexican cuisine. There are quite a few little restaurants available at Mercado 28 where you can see mostly locals getting the best Cancun has to offer.
